How accessible this website is

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 standards across www.imara.org.uk.

Some animated .gif banners appear on certain pages. While these are visually engaging, animations can pose a barrier for users with vestibular disorders or cognitive sensitivities. We’re reviewing them and planning a more accessible alternative or optional pause/resume control but this is technology-dependant.

We use Silktide to assess accessibility. Its accessibility module automates over 200 WCAG checks and tests across desktop and mobile environments, providing plain‑English guidance and highlighted issues in‑page for designers and developers.

How we test and maintain accessibility

• We run Silktide scans regularly—especially after content updates—to track and prioritise accessibility issues for resolution.
• Results identify missing alt text, contrast issues, keyboard navigation problems, focus order issues and more.
• For areas Silktide can’t evaluate—such as screen‑reader usability, cognitive load, or complex components—we’re planning manual checks using assistive technologies and real‑user testing where practical.

Known limitations and what we’re doing about them

• Missing alt text: some images currently lack descriptive alt text. We’re systematically adding meaningful alt text across the site.
• Animated .gif banners: as above, we’re assessing the impact and moving towards accessible alternatives or controls.
• Browser compatibility: we’ve tested imara.org.uk in all major browsers—Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari—and it responds consistently. Zoom (to at least 400%), high‑contrast modes, keyboard navigation and screen reader accessibility work across all platforms.
