🌿 Mindfulness Day: Finding Moments of Calm on the Healing Journey✨Self-care and mindfulness aren't about forcing positivity, they’re about creating gentle, safe moments to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself. For children, young people, and adults recovering from trauma, finding a sense of grounding can feel challenging. Trauma often keeps our nervous system on high alert, making stillness feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable.Mindfulness doesn't have to mean sitting quietly in meditation for an hour. It can be as simple as:🦶 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding: Noticing 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste.🍃 Sensory connection: Feeling the cool air on your skin during a walk or taking time to focus on the texture of a soft blanket.🌬️ Box breathing: Taking a slow breath in for 4 seconds, holding for 4, exhaling for 4, and pausing for 4.💙 How We Help at ImaraIn our therapeutic and advocacy work with young survivors and families across Nottinghamshire, we teach grounding techniques that help regulate the nervous system.Today, we encourage you to take just two minutes to pause, check in with yourself, and give your mind a quiet moment to breathe. 👉 Discover more about our trauma-informed support services: www.imara.org.uk ...
