Common Questions

If you are currently accessing the service and have an appointment.

Please call 0115 752 6083.

To make a referral to Imara for a young person related to sexual abuse.

For our services related to child sexual abuse, our referrals have to come through the local paediatric sexual assault referral centre, EMCYPSAS - https://www.emcypsas.co.uk/

You can make a referral by calling the SARC on 0800 183 0023. Their phoneline is open 24/7.

It can take a while for a referral to make its way through the SARC and reach us so we’d encourage you to make the initial call as soon as possible so as to minimise the young person’s wait for support.

The main information they need when you make the referral includes:

  • Full name, date of birth and address of the young person,
  • Contact details for the young person or their parent/carer
  • Consent of the young person/their parent/carer for the referral to be made
  • The timeframe of the incident(s)

Depending on the age and address of the young person, they may be referred to another service instead of Imara for therapy, but any CHISVA referrals (support needed around police investigation or court process) will come through to us.

Please note we are not able to accept self referrals, so please do not signpost young people or families to Imara. They will need you to make the referral as a professional.

Please do let us know if you have any trouble making the referral or if we can be of any more help by emailing in**@*******rg.uk.

To make a referral to Imara for a young person related to domestic abuse.

For our services related to domestic abuse, please complete this DVA CADA referral form as fully as possible, and send as a password protected attachment/encrypted to in**@*******rg.uk. If you have access to a CJSM email address, you can also submit referral forms to se************@********sm.net If you have completed a safety plan with the young person or family, please attach a copy of this with the referral form.

Imara’s senior therapists will assess referrals to ensure it is safe to start therapy with the young person, and we will be in touch to confirm whether Imara can work with the family.

This may include seeking consent from the child’s safe parent to refer them to an IDVA if they are not already working with an adult domestic abuse service (Juno in Notts County, NWAIS in Nottingham City).

Please note we are not able to accept self referrals, so please do not signpost young people or families to Imara. They will need you to make the referral as a professional.
